Money Fort is a fairy fort in County Kerry, Ireland. Its earth and stone bank still stands on a low hill, enclosing a small world where coniferous trees grow above forgotten human life. The gaps in the rim suggest people once entered and left, perhaps carrying coins, stories or warnings about the creatures said to inhabit such places.
In pasture, on a W-facing slope, towards the top of a low hill. A roughly circular area (36m E-W) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 5.2m; int. H 0.55m; ext. H 0.6m) NNW-S and by a scarp (H 1.1m) S-NNW. There is external stone-facing along the scarp SW-WNW. The stone-facing continues for a short distance along the W side of a N-S field boundary which extends N from the scarp at NW. The interior is raised, though it still retains a slight slope down to the W, and has coniferous trees growing in it. Gaps occur through the bank at NW and S. There is a possible entrance (Wth 1.5-2m) at SE. A possible trackway (on a N-S axis) is situated to the E of the field boundary and it extends N of the scarp at NW to join a possible E-W road, situated 10-15m to the N.
