Moated site in Mawbeg East

In pasture, on edge of steep natural scarp overlooking stream valley to E. Sub-rectangular area (53.3m NW-SE; 46m NE-SW) defined by earthen bank (H 1.75m) to SW and NW; scarp (max. H 9.9m) to NE and SE. Fosse (D 1.25m) with counterscarp bank (H 0.5m) to SW; possible overgrown fosse to NE. Interior slightly raised, level to NW, slopes down to SE. Overgrown mound at edge of scarp to SE, possibly remains of structure. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
