What is recorded here
On an undulating, low-lying landscape with a NW-SE stream immediately to the NE. Described as a rectangular area (dims 56m NW-SE; 45m NE-SW) defined by earthen banks at NW and NE separated by a fosse at the SW, NE and SE sides from outer banks at NW and SE (Gannon 1972). These features are not visible now at ground level. The castle (RO045-171001-) was at the E corner.
