In level pasture, atop a low rise on a slight S-facing slope, with moderate to good views in all directions. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a circular-shaped area defined by a scarp. Shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a raised square-shaped area defined by a scarp. Surveyed in 1999 and described as a raised square-shaped area (dims. 30m N-S; 30m E-W) defined by a scarp (Wth 1.6m; H 1.7m) with fosse (base Wth 1.2m; ext. D 1m) from NE-E-S-W-NW, possibly re-cut in modern time. Interior dry and planted with conifers. Modern entrance causeway (Wth 2m) at S across fosse. Field drain truncates the site at N. Tree-covered visible on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-2013 and on Google Earth orthoimages.
