Why this matters

Miotag is a sea cliff or coastal rock feature composed primarily of Lewisian gneiss, some of the oldest rocks in Scotland, dating back to the Precambrian era, around 2.7 to 3 billion years. These rocks formed through high-grade metamorphism of ancient igneous and sedimentary rocks and are notable for their durability and role in the geological foundation of the Scottish Highlands.
