Milntown Castle was a 16th century towerhouse built by Andrew Munro around 1500, serving as a seat for the Earls of Cromartie before fire destroyed much of it in 1642. Today only its basement remains, partially buried beneath later landscape gardening, with a fine arched entrance and barrel-vaulted roof that locals still call an ice house. The chamber may have been reused for New Tarbat House in the 1660s, blending medieval defence into domestic convenience.
