What is recorded here
Milestone, Swansea Castle 5 Miles, Mumbles Road marks five miles from Swansea Castle during the Post Medieval period. It is a small stone witness to distance, perhaps chipped by cart wheels or softened by rain, standing on Mumbles Road where travellers once measured the journey home. The number five was not decoration; it was direction. A person walking that road could read the castle’s reach in the stone itself, and the stone could be read without knowing the person at all.
The National Monuments Record of Wales records Milestone, Swansea Castle 5 Miles, Mumbles Road as Milestone from the Post Medieval period. The saved point comes from the official national record. Inclusion does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
