Middleton Towers is a 15th century brick gatehouse standing in a water-filled moat in King's Lynn and West Norfolk. Built about 1455 for Thomas, Lord Scales, it never became the full courtyard house once imagined. The gatehouse survived dereliction, was restored in 1864, and still presents its polygonal turrets, embattled parapet and four-centred gateway as though guarding a house that vanished.
