Sir Hugh Bell CB FSA JP 2nd Baronet and Dame Florence Bell DBE were prominent philanthropists who significantly contributed to the cultural and social life of Middlesbrough by founding the Winter Garden, which served as an important community and entertainment venue from 1907-1963.
