Middleboot Knots is a sea cliff composed primarily of Carboniferous limestone, formed around 340 to 320 million years ago through the accumulation of marine sediments. The cliff is notable for its exposure of durable rock layers that have withstood coastal erosion, providing a local example of the geological history of the Cumberland region.
