Midden in Dooaghs

A number of lenses of midden material occur at different levels in a 14m long stretch of an eroding sand-face c. 650m SW of 5 (KE055-004----). The shells are predominantly those of cockles, mussels and periwinkles and there is some burnt stone present. The sand in which the lenses occur rests on a layer of dark peaty material (information: G. Diggin). The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
