Midden in Baile An Reannaigh

Midden

What is recorded here

A very small number of shells exposed in section at the cliff-face on the S side of Smerwick Harbour. The amount of shell is so sparse that it is not possible to say if this is a natural or an archaeological accumulation of shell. (information: A. McCarthy) The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 2. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 3 August 2013
