What is recorded here
Ironworks known to have been in use in the 18th century include one in 'Lough na furnace' (McCracken 1971, 165-6). According to Tim Robinson (pers. communication) the furnace, which vanished generations ago, was located between Furnace bridge and Camus National School to the W.
