Merwede

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Merwede as Steamship (period Unassigned)-(1918). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The *Merwede* was a steamship built in 1918, later involved in World War II as a Dutch cargo vessel. It was sunk in 1940 by a magnetic mine off the coast of Scotland, resulting in the loss of all 36 crew members; its wreck remains a war grave and is protected under UK law.
