Carrigan (1905) found a door lintel from a Shee residence, carved mid-17th century, now lost inside the church or graveyard at Sheastown. The stone records Richard Shee, son of Marcus, restoring a house, but the year and exact spot have slipped away. What remains is a fragment of a family name pressed into stone, waiting to be placed again.

Carrigan (1905, vol. 3, 225) describes a number of graveslabs associated with the medieval church (KK024-001001-) at Sheastown. He also mentions, 'Portion of a slab, which originally served as the lintel of a door, most probably in some former residence of the Shees, in Sheestown. The inscription belongs to about the middle of the 17th century, is in slightly raised Roman capitals, and reads as follows: HAS AEDES RESTAVRAUIT R..... ARMIGER SVPRADICTI MARC...… ANNO DOMINI 1... . Translation - R[ichard Shee], gentleman, son of the above mentioned M[arcus], restored this house A.D. 1....'.
