What is recorded here

Margaret O'Dinighen died in 1666 and her name still appears on a stone trapped inside the church doorway. The small marker was likely reused to repair a wall, burying her memory beneath practical cement and forgetting. She became invisible until someone looked closely enough to read the faded letters.

A stone, which was probably used to repair the wall, has been inserted inside the doorway of Rattoo Church (see KE009-056003-). The stone, measuring .4m by .3m, bears an inscription on its upper part. The inscription may read as follows: 'X MARGARET O'DINIGHEN, EJUS 1666, VXOR, HIC JACET' (Lynch, JRSAI 40, 1910, 244-245).
