MEGALITHIC TOMB; ENCLOSURES; STRUCTURES (O.S. memoir site; unlocated) in Drumavoley

Megalithic tombs appeared across Ireland after farming arrived in the fourth millennium B.C., yet this particular site is remembered only through an Ordnance Survey memoir and no longer has a clear location in Drumavoley. That absence does not diminish it; it suggests a place once familiar to walkers, farmers or surveyors has slipped beneath grass, road works or forgotten field names. The stones may still lie buried beneath what is now taken for ordinary ground. To walk Drumavoley is therefore to cross a threshold where human memory has thinned, not where record-keeping failed.
