Midges hummed around the ditch while men dug through Antrim soil, uncovering a boundary drawn centuries before pipes crossed the county. The enclosure stood complete in the cut, its lines sharp enough to suggest households, herds or prayers once moved within them. Men laid cable beside the discovery and left the ditch open to rain. What the enclosure kept or denied is no longer written anywhere, but the soil still remembers the shape of the answer.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as MEDIEVAL DITCH & ENCLOSURE - excavated as part of Gas Pipeline Project. Recorded period: MEDIEVAL. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
