This blue commemorative plaque records: This mast, the 20,000th on the east coast main line electrification project, was 'planted' by the Mayor of Durham, Councillor Mrs Mildred Brown, and Professor F. G. T. Holliday CBE FRSE Vice Chancellor and Warden, University of Durham, and Chairman, British Rail, Eastern Region Advisory Board, on 22nd September 1988.
Mayor Mildred Brown participated in the ceremonial installation of the 20,000th electrification mast on the East Coast Main Line, marking a significant milestone in Britain's railway infrastructure development.
