Matty Coakley lived from 1915 to 1995 and co-founded the Youghal Association in London in 1968. Friends at home and overseas erected his memorial in County Cork on 7th August 1997. The stones record that a man from Youghal helped build a bridge between hometown and distance, and that others remembered him enough to shape the bridge into something permanent.
