Mathern Palace Garden, Chepstow, is associated with the historic Mathern Palace, which was originally built in the 13th century by the Baskervilles, later held by the De Clares, and became a royal possession under the Crown in the 14th century. The garden is important as a remnant of the medieval palace, which was a key residence in the region and played a role in the administration of the Marcher Lordships.
