MASS CAVE: POLLANAFFRIN in Lattonagh

MASS CAVE: POLLANAFFRIN

What is recorded here

Pollanafrin hides beneath Lattonagh, where Fermanagh soil still remembers the weight of forbidden prayer. Men may have knelt in darkness during prohibited years, lighting candles that smoked the cave walls black. The chamber denied them on Sundays but returned their devotion unchanged, shaping faith into patience rather than protest.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as MASS CAVE: POLLANAFFRIN. Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
