Martha Jane

Wreck

What is recorded here

The National Monuments Record of Wales records Martha Jane as Wreck from the Modern period. The saved point comes from the official national record. Inclusion does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
The Martha Jane was a coaster that sank in 1891 near the coast of Wales after striking a rock. Though the exact number of casualties is unclear, it is known that several crew members died, and the vessel was lost with its cargo; the wreck is significant as a recorded example of 19th-century maritime trade and risk along Welsh shores.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
