Marlay House

Farmyard complex, extant 1837, on a U-shaped plan about a courtyard including (south): Attached seven-bay single-storey coach house on a T-shaped plan centred on single-bay three-stage tower on a square plan with single-bay single-storey gabled projecting porch to ground floor. Now disused. Pitched corrugated-iron roofs centred on pitched (gabled) corrugated-iron roof with moss-covered ridges, cut-granite coping to gable with crocketed obelisk pinnacle to apex, and no rainwater goods surviving on creeper- or ivy-covered eaves. Creeper- or ivy-covered walls retaining sections of lime rendered or roughcast surface finish; part creeper- or ivy-covered walls (tower) retaining sections of lime rendered or roughcast surface finish with lichen-spotted cut-granite chamfered stringcourses. Elliptical-headed central carriageway (tower) with red brick voussoirs. Lancet window openings (second stage) with cut-granite sills, and red brick block-and-start surrounds with no fittings surviving. Roundels (top stage) with cut-granite surrounds originally framing clock faces. Elliptical-headed carriageways with red brick voussoirs. Set in grounds shared with Marlay House with granite ashlar piers to courtyard having cut-granite capping supporting spear head-detailed double gates.
