This blue commemorative plaque records: The Market House Gosport's Market House & Courthouse stood on this foreshore site from 1812. For many years the famous Dive Café was in the basement. The Market House was bombed in 1940 & finally demolished in 1960.
The Market House served as Gosport's central marketplace and courthouse from 1812 until its destruction during World War II, with the Dive Café later occupying its basement before the structure's final demolition in 1960.
