What is recorded here

This blue commemorative plaque records: Renovated in 1990 as part of Altrincham Charter celebrations, the Market has been held on this site since the Earl of Stamford gave the land to the town in 1879. Prior to this the market had been held since the thirteenth century at the old market place in front of the Unicorn
Sir George Grey KCB was a prominent British colonial administrator and explorer, known for his significant roles in New Zealand and Australia, though his direct connection to Altrincham's market is not recorded.

A plaque record does not grant entry to a building or private land. View it from a public place unless permission is clearly given.
