What is recorded here

Margate clock tower rose in 1887 to mark Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee, then waited two years before handing its bronze voice to the town. It still stands beside the sea, measuring the lives of people who never knew the princess riding a white donkey across Broadstairs sand. The tower turns ordinary hours into royal ones, forcing every local journey to answer the same golden measure.
