What is recorded here

Underground passages in west Cork hide inside ancient ringforts, marking human ingenuity beneath ordinary soil. Two depressions still show where entry once cut through earth, waiting for courage or permission. They remind us that even quiet countryside may conceal chambers built by hands now forgotten.
In ringfort (CO107-051001-); two depressions are visible: one in centre and one in SE quadrant. Access not gained. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
