Man-made underground passage in Tullig (clanmaurice By.)

Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

Two hidden chambers waited beneath a levelled ringfort in Tullig, reachable only through steps now lost to time and soil. The passage cut through a steep NW-facing slope, suggesting people once chose darkness over openness, perhaps for storage, ritual or escape. That much has vanished, but the shape of the choice remains: a place built downward, where human life bent around mystery instead of avoiding it.
In tillage, on a steep NW-facing slope. According to the landowner, steps originally led down to two subterranean chambers in the NW quadrant of a levelled ringfort (KE022-004----). Compiled by: Matt Kelleher Date of upload: 28 January 2014

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
