Man-made underground passage in Toormore

Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

In pasture, in a relatively flat recently drained field, on the N side of a road. According to local information, there was a 'cave' in this field which extended under the road. It was also recorded that a hollow sound was heard when carts crossed the road. There are no visible remains of this possible Man-made underground passage. There is also doubt about the precise location in the field in which it occurred. Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. Date of upload: 30 May 2011
