Beneath the Raheens ringfort, a narrow creepway forces entry into a small chamber before turning north, yet no collapsed roof or finished lining survives to prove it was ever meant for human passage. Anne-Marie Lennon excavated the site in 1989 to save what she could from the advancing Sandoz factory, finding instead a hole backfilled with domestic debris and layered above older structures. The passage may have been a failed attempt, a abandoned experiment, or a hole dug for another purpose entirely, leaving the dark chamber empty of the very function its shape suggests.

In ringfort (CO087-046---), excavated 1989 by Anne-Marie Lennon in advance of partial destruction by Sandoz factory. Possible entrance (Wth 0.8m; D1.0m) leads from SSE with creepway (Wth 0.6m; D 0.9m; L 2.5m) running NNW into possible chamber (L 2.6m; Wth 2m; D 1.5m). Second smaller passage (L 1.5m; Wth 1m; D 0.7m) leads from chamber to N. N sign of collapsed lining or roofing; backfilled with domestic debris. May never have functioned as Man-made underground passage. Overlies several earlier structures (Lennon forthcoming).
