Under a Cork ringfort, a narrow four-metre chamber waited buried in rubble and domestic debris. Anne-Marie Lennon excavated it in 1989 before a Sandoz factory could destroy more of the site. Its drystone walls and eastern steps suggest people lowered themselves into darkness, perhaps to hide, remember or simply be out of sight. The passage also covers two older structures, layering human urgency beneath human urgency.

In ringfort (CO087-046---), excavated 1989 by Anne-Marie Lennon in advance of partial destruction by Sandoz factory. Single chamber (L 4m; Wth 0.8m; D1.2m); drystone walls; stepped access from E. Deliberately backfilled with rubble and domestic debris; no capstones present. Man-made underground passage overlies two earlier structures (Lennon forthcoming).
