What is recorded here

That is the name of the hidden chamber beneath the Galway hill, not a mistake or a ghost story. It is a man-made underground passage, centrally placed within the interior of a ringfort. The chamber may have served the ringfort people as a store, a shelter or a place of ritual, but no surviving account says which. What is certain is that humans dug or shaped it beneath the fort, then hid it beneath the living land.

Centrally placed within the interior of a ringfort (GA042-209----). According to the landowner, a 'cave' was discovered here during land reclamation but was subsequently sealed up by replacing the disturbed capstone.
