Man-made underground passage in Na Cúla (bar. Uíbh Ráthach)

Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

This inaccessible Man-made underground passage, not marked on the OS maps, is situated on the fairly steep slopes of Knocknaskereighta mountain overlooking Ballinskelligs Bay to S. Its entrance was blocked in the early 1960s and the Man-made underground passage is described locally as being of drystone construction. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 867. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 29 July 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
