Mamucky holds a collapsed underground chamber beside its ringfort, revealing that people built beneath the ground as well as above it. The hollow measures 1.4 metres across and drops one metre deep, perhaps marking a passage where stone once supported a hidden room. Its shape suggests more than a natural dip, as if human hands carved space below the hill before time buried the result.
