Knocks holds a man-made underground passage inside a ringfort, discovered in 1985. The central depression still marks its position, suggesting people dug beneath an already shaped earth. Perhaps they stored grain, hid tools or kept water from reaching what they valued. The passage no longer answers to command, but it remains a hole made with purpose, waiting under foot.
