Knockagarrane holds a man-made underground passage built of large rough flagstones not far beneath the soil. The Kerry Field Club found it open but much damaged during a 1945 outing, suggesting people once cut through rock rather than admire it from a distance. That much is known. What is lost is the name of the hand that laid the first stone and the reason the chamber was buried instead of forgotten.

A report of an outing by the Kerry Field Club from 1945 (MCKFC Vol. 1, 624-5) stated that they also inspected a fort (KE057-139---) with souterrrain in Kilderry wood. 'The Man-made underground passages in this are open but much damaged. They are made of large rough flagstones not far underground'. The extent of Kilderry Wood is indicated on the 1895 ed. OS 6-inch map but there is no known fort within it. The precise location of this ringfort with possible Man-made underground passage within Kilderry Wood has not been identified.
