Kilcolman ringfort hides two underground passages according to local tradition, one entering the western fosse and the other opening inside the fort. No visible trace remains above ground, but the story suggests people once cut or dug ways through solid earth beneath a defended place. That absence makes the claim harder to dismiss, since buried passages often disappear when soil shifts or entrances collapse. The fort may have used secrecy as much as strength, giving its occupants a hidden route when danger came from above.
