Man-made underground passage in Glashaboy West

In N half of ringfort (CO041-11801-), c. 10m inside bank. Discovered in 1975 when roof collapsed during ploughing; investigated by Ann Lynch and Mary Cahill (UCC). Opening (1m x 0.52m) through roof allowed access to part of chamber (L c. 2.5m; Wth c. 1.5m; long axis NW-SE); chamber rock-cut at SE end, earth-cut elsewhere; appeared to extend in NNE direction, possibly extending under bank of ringfort. Collapsed earth prevented further investigation. Subsequently backfilled. (McCarthy 1977, 250) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
