Man-made underground passage in Cornaveigh (imokilly By., Ardagh Par.)

On S-facing slope overlooking Tourig river. Discovered and investigated in 1985 (Power and Doody 1985, 40-3; Power 1987, 17). Stone-built entrance chamber (L 1m; Wth 0.7m) orientated NE-SW with stone-built gallery (L 5m; Wth 0.8m; H 0.84m) at right angles. Lintelled entrance (H 0.66m) at SW end of gallery to collapsed chamber, now inaccessible and apparently earth-cut. Authors suggest that entrance chamber 'may be second gallery which extends further north-eastwards'. Fragment of iron slag found on gallery floor.
