Man-made underground passage in Clooncorban

Within a possible rath (CO121-107001-). This earth-cut Man-made underground passage (L. 2.8m N-S; Wth 1.8m;. H c. 1.5m) was discovered during ploughing in the 1990s (pers. comm. John Cronin). A stone-built wall (Wth 1.6m; H 0.9m) was visible at the N end of the chamber. A subsequent inspection of the area in July 2005, when there was a corn crop in the field, failed to gain access to the Man-made underground passage location. No differential growth pattern was discernible in the field on this occasion when the area was viewed from higher ground.
