Man-made underground passage in Castlebarnagh

Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

In the W half of a cashel (MA072-047001-). A lintelled opening at ground surface opens onto a subterranean passage (Wth c. 1.5m) of drystone construction, which extends for 3m to SSE, at which point it is blocked by a heap of stones. Immediately to N of the lintelled opening there is a shallow, grassed-over depression (L 2m N−S) representing a portion of collapsed passage, at the N edge of which a stone slab, can be felt beneath the sod, probably another in situ lintel.
