Man-made underground passage in Carrigdarrery

In level pasture; discovered in 1983. Investigated by Cleary (1986, 34-5) who described two rock-cut chambers, the roofs of which had collapsed. Chamber 1: irregular (2m N-S; 0.84m E-W); construction shaft in E wall; creepway (L 0.9m; Wth 0.3m) at S end. Chamber 2: roughly rectangular (1.95m N-S; 0.7m E-W; H 0.55m); construction shaft in S wall; S end narrows (Wth 0.4m) and blocked creepway leads to further chamber or original entrance. Walls of chamber 2 tapered inwards towards ceiling. Stone resting against N wall of chamber 2, adjacent to creepway opening; Cleary (ibid.) suggests this may have functioned as closing stone.
