Man-made underground passage in Bun An Doirín

This Man-made underground passage, not marked on the OS maps, is located in a forestry plantation on the E side of the Cummeranearla stream, NE of the Coomduff ridge. Access to it is gained through a lintelled ope with inclining sides, .75m high and .65m wide at base, which leads into the W end of a rectangular chamber. This is 3.45m long, 1.6m wide, and up to 1.35m high. Its regularly coursed, drystone-built walls corbel towards the roofing lintels. The N side-wall curves outwards slightly. The entrance to a creepway, .33m x .55m, is located in the S wall close to the chamber’s SE angle. The creepway is c. 2m long and appears to lead to a second chamber, which is inaccessible.
