What is recorded here
No visible surface trace in Bealad West, but a collapsed ground revealed a stone-lined tunnel inside a ringfort. The passage may have served as a hidden route, storage space, or ceremonial path for the people who built the fort. Its sudden exposure suggests the earth itself remembered what humans forgot.
In ringfort (CO134-095---). Ground collapsed some time ago and stone-lined 'tunnel' exposed, according to local information. No visible surface trace.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
