Man-made underground passage in Ballycarnahan

Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

A Man-made underground passage, not marked on the OS maps, was reputedly discovered at this location, close to KE106-068----. O’Connell described two blocked Man-made underground passages ‘alongside one another’ on the slope of the hill (KAS). These are probably two passages of the one Man-made underground passage. No surface trace survives. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 848. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 July 2013
