Ballyanly holds two earth-cut chambers with barrel-vaulted ceilings, linked by a narrow creepway and hidden inside a ringfort. Discovered in 1976 and investigated by J.P. McCarthy in 1977, the passage still has a visible opening at the south end of the first chamber. Local information mentions a second passage west of the ringfort, now closed, suggesting the ground there once carried more than one hidden route.

In ringfort (CO072-033001-). Discovered in 1976; investigated by J.P. McCarthy (1977, 151-2). Two subrectangular earth-cut chambers parallel to each other, long axes N-S; barrel-vaulted ceilings. Chamber 1: (L 3.5m; Wth 1m; H 0.8m); creepway at N end of W side to chamber 2 (L 3.4m; Wth 1.1m; H 0.8m). Present entrance at S end of chamber 1; original entrance not identified. Opening remains visible. According to local information second Man-made underground passage to W of ringfort, now closed up.
