Mackworth is a scheduled monument preserving a medieval settlement, castle gatehouse, open field system and pinfold in Amber Valley, England. The surviving gatehouse stands as a square, battlemented ruin beside faint traces of courtyards, fields and a pinfold that once regulated animals and household life. It is not a grand castle in the romantic sense, but a domestic medieval place where stone, timber, farmland and restraint shaped everyday existence.
