M3

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records M3 as Target Craft (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

M3 was a Royal Navy target tug, used for gunnery practice, that was sunk in the early 20th century, likely during World War I, in the Firth of Forth. It was lost without any casualties, and its wreck remains an important archaeological site for understanding early 20th-century naval training and technology.
