Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte, later known as Napoleon III, was the nephew of Napoleon I and served as the first President of France (1848–1852) before declaring himself Emperor of the French (1852–1870). He is remembered for his significant modernization of France and his foreign policies that led to the Crimean War and the Franco-Prussian War.
